WASHINGTON: Google has reportedly added a new handwriting input tool to Gmail and Google Docs that allows users to send emails in their own handwriting.

With a mousepad or cursor users can write out what they want and Google will do its best to create a typed version of their words and also give suggestions for similar words from where the user can choose from.

According to CNN, the tool is in more than 50 languages for Gmail users, while Google Docs users can have options from 20 languages.

Google's Xinangye Xia said that handwriting input makes the internet easier to use by people worldwide and is also part of a larger effort to break the barrier between languages.

Users can simply go to the Gmail or Docs settings and, under the Languages setting in the General tab, click 'Show all language options' and then select the that says 'Enable input tools' and a list will come up having every type of keyboard Google has to offer.

The languages with a pencil icon beside them are the ones that support written words and once an input option is added, one can select it anytime from a drop down on top of the menu bar above the document or email being composed.

India must reorganise itself to tame Australia

The introspection has been serious with the players seeking the analysts out for some hyperactive sessions at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium here. The loss at Pune has driven home some bitter lessons and India, smarting under that humiliating experience, realises it must reorganise its strength and look to tame Australia at this juncture of the seven-match one-day series.
In modern cricket, because of the exacting schedule, there is little time to work on a weakness between matches. The remedial methods have to be rapid and results instant, for there are replacements ready to step in.
Ian Chappell had his reasons to call this series meaningless but then the Indian cricket authorities think differently. The players are part of a caravan that looks to whip the passions of a cricket-crazy nation. The losses hurt for a very short period and the triumphs are celebrated long. That the Australians had a plan at Pune was clear. They bowled fast and pitched it short too, much to the discomfort of some of the Indian batsmen. An age old problem had resurrected in the last one-dayer and posed a reality check on India’s batting potential when tested by the short ball. This is not the most menacing attack in the cricket world but it did point to a most vexing issue that could confront the Indian camp when playing overseas in the next year or so.
When batting, the Australians identified the bowlers to feast on. They spared the slow bowlers but paced the innings to perfection and created the desired pressure that forced the Indians into submission.
Erratic bowling
India’s woes were compounded by some erratic stuff from its seamers. The early loss of Shikhar Dhawan was a minor setback but poor shot selection sent the team hurtling towards defeat. The compact performance of the T20 win at Rajkot appeared an aberration now. Some old worries remained and invited a furious assessment.
Not that one session of ‘nets’ would drive the shortcomings away. Ishant Sharma worked to pitch the ball up and Rohit Sharma’s extended shadow practice to pick the away going ball and leave it were visible efforts but the stage would be different on Wednesday when the Australians seek to build on the advantage gained from the last match.
Australia gains from the fact that it has no big names. Each player is out to make a statement and facilitate the situation for George Bailey, the captain who led by example, scoring a match-impacting 85. There is reason to believe that Australia will push India hard since the pitch is expected to encourage bounce. Curator Taposh Chatterjee has taken pains to prepare a “sporting” track with a tinge of grass.
The teams (from): India: Mahendra Singh Dhoni (capt.), Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ishant Sharma, R. Vinay Kumar, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ambati Rayudu, Mohammad Shami, Jaydev Unadkat and Amit Mishra.
Australia: George Bailey (capt.), Shane Watson, Aaron Finch, Adam Voges, Glenn Maxwell, Callum Ferguson, Phil Hughes, James Faulkner, Moises Henriques, Brad Haddin, Xavier Doherty, Mitchell Johnson, Clint McKay and Nathan Coulter-Nile.
Umpires: Richard Kettleborough and Vineet Kulkarni; Third umpire: C. Shamsuddin. Match-referee: Roshan Mahanama.

Bailey, Finch lead Aussies to huge total

lez shout

Opener Aaron Finch struck his second successive half-century of the tour while captain George Bailey scored a fine 85 as the Australian side made mincemeat of the insipid Indian bowling attack to pile on a huge 304 for eight in the first ODI in Pune on Sunday.Finch, who helped the visitors make an imposing 200-plus total at Rajkot in the tour-opening one-off T20 International, was again in attacking form with a well-made 72 off 79 balls with eight fours and three sixes after Australia opted to bat.Finch and fellow opener Phil Hughes (47) got Australia off to a solid start with 110-run opening stand before India fought back through their left-arm spin twins Ravindra Jadeja (1 for 35) and Yuvraj Singh (2 for 34).Thereafter Bailey, who made a duck in the T20 game that Australia lost by four wickets, kept the innings together with a superbly paced 82-ball knock, studded with 10 fours before he was caught at deep mid wicket off Ravichandran Ashwin.James Faulkner (27 off 22 balls) struck breezily towards the end to help the visitors cross the 300-mark after a mid-innings stutter. The Indian bowlers, barring Jadeja and Yuvraj, looked off colour, particularly Ishant Sharma (1 for 56), who gave away lot of runs for a late wicket.

Can Australia match India’s firepower?

As is the practice, India’s likely openers for the first ODI against Australia — Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan — began the net session at the Gahunje Stadium on Saturday, facing the likes of Ishant Sharma, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jaydev Unadkat and a few local bowlers.
The right-left combination is turning out to be a dream pair, the way Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir were. Rohit has made the most of the opportunities that have come his way, scoring 580 runs in the last 16 games, while Dhawan has amassed 680 runs with three centuries in the past 14 matches.
Rohit and Dhawan’s success has been the story of India’s campaign in ODIs in recent times, and given rise to expectations that they will open the innings in the 2015 World Cup in Australia. However, there are a handful of youngsters, most notably Unmukt Chand, who would be pressing their claims for the quadrennial event, and one cannot rule out the chances of Sehwag and Gambhir either. On current form, though, Rohit and Dhawan are the front-runners for the World Cup.
Rohit did not have an exceptional tour of Zimbabwe recently and would be keen to make amends in the seven-match series against Australia during the next fortnight.

Motorola Droid Maxx review: Superb battery life for a high price

The good: The Motorola Droid Maxx delivers astonishingly long battery life, a big, colorful screen, and a durable, attractive design. The camera takes pleasing pictures and performs inventive tricks such as responding to voice commands, giving screen-based notifications, and quick-launching the camera.
The bad: The Motorola Droid Maxx is expensive.
The bottom line: If you can get past its steep price, the massive-screened Motorola Droid Maxx is currently Verizon’s best Android smartphone.

Apple's iPhone 6 will jump in screen size to almost 5 inches from the current 4 inches. At least, that's the claim from Cantor Fitzgerald analyst Brian White.
After meeting recently with an Apple supplier, White expressed confidence that a new big-screen iPhone will emerge next year, as reported by Boy Genius Report.

Sania Says "I Would Love To Win another Grand Slam"

Kevin Pieterson - Libel Damages

England cricketer Kevin Pietersen was on Tuesday awarded undisclosed libel damages over an advertisement that suggested he had tampered with his bat during this year’s Ashes series against Australia. The advert for opticians Specsavers showed a picture of the batsman alongside the statement: “Bat tampering in the Ashes? Apparently Hot Spot should’ve gone to Specsavers.”Pietersen was accused by an Australian television channel of using silicone tape during the series to prevent the Hot Spot decision-review technology from detecting when he had hit the ball, but he denied the allegations. — AFP

Mumbi Indians Lifts The Trophy...

Sachin Tendulkar ended his limited-overs career with a glittering trophy in hand as Mumbai Indians defeated Rajasthan Royals by 33 runs in the final to claim its second Champions League T20 crown, at the Ferozeshah Kotla here on Sunday night. After Chennai Super Kings’s feat in 2010, Mumbai became the second team to win the IPL and CLT20 titles in the same year.Asked to bat first, Mumbai set an imposing target of 203 and banked on Harbhajan Singh’s four-wicket haul to stop Rajasthan at 169.Sachin Tendulkar’s last innings in coloured clothing, though short-lived, underlined the oft-repeated cliche about the permanency of class. Three well-placed boundaries from the maestro’s blade cheered up the packed stadium. He glanced and drove Shane Watson to fine leg and cover for consecutive fours before having his off-stump being uprooted spectacularly in the next delivery.Opener Dwayne Smith again took up the responsibility of setting the platform for Mumbai. He played sensibly, punishing the lose deliveries and showing respect to the good ones.

Tidy lines

Kevon Cooper and Pravin Tambe bowled tidy lines to deny Mumbai a boundary for five overs before Smith broke the shackles, hitting Watson for three fours on the trot.Pravin Tambe, who had played crucial roles in two Rajasthan wins, got rid of Smith and Ambati Rayudu in successive overs to surpass Sunil Narine as the most successful bowler of the tournament with 12 scalps.Rohit Sharma struck three fours and two huge sixes in his 14-ball 33. Glenn Maxwell provided further fillip to the Mumbai innings with 37 from just 14 balls.
Maxwell’s late thrust helped Mumbai cross the 200-mark.Faced with a mammoth task, Rajasthan batsmen took the challenge head on. The early loss of Kushal Perera, the replacement for an injured Brad Hodge, had no impact on Rajasthan’s progress.Destructive battingSanju Viswanadh had the Mumbai camp worried with some destructive batting. The youngster maintained his composure and rode his fabulous timing to blast the Mumbai bowlers all over the ground, for four fours and an equal number of sixes in his quickfire 60.
Ajinkya Rahane, who scored his fourth fifty in a row, and Sanju enjoyed their time out in the middle as Rajasthan made the most of the first six PowerPlay overs collecting 71 runs.Mumbai skipper Rohit Sharma ran out of ideas, as he used six of his bowlers by the seventh over and posted five of his fielders at the ropes.Pragyan Ojha broke the second-wicket stand in the 12th over when Harbhajan caught Sanju at short third man. A little later, Harbhajan came up with a three-wicket burst — Rahane (65), Stuart Binny (10) and Cooper (4) — in the 17th over to effectively end the contest.

Samsung's smartwatch is style over substance...[CNET]

The good: The Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch is attractive, comfortable, and makes it easy to see incoming calls
The bad: A lack of e-mail and social network support, limited compatibility with other devices, the external charging case, and hit-and-miss voice control seriously limit its usefulness.
The bottom line: Samsung's take on the smartwatch has some potential, and it does get some things right, but its inability to perform truly "smart" functions means it falls far short of expectations.
Your phone is way too big and unwieldy -- what you need is a smaller second screen to let you know what's going on with ease. At least, that's what Samsung reckons. Its new Galaxy Gear Smartwatch lets you take calls, send texts, and perform various other tasks from your wrist without touching your phone.
The Gear has no SIM card or data connection of its own. Instead, it links to your phone over Bluetooth, acting more as an external display so you don't have to fish your phone out every time it rings.
Samsung's Gear is among the first smartwatches we've seen from a major mobile manufacturer and is intended to lead the way in the emerging field of wearable, connected technology. Exciting stuff, sure, but I'm certainly not bowled over by it. With hardly any third-party apps to speak of, its functions are limited to handling calls and texts -- email and social services are not yet supported.
Add to that its $299 price tag and the fact that it's only compatible with the Galaxy Note 3 at launch and you have a recipe for disappointment. Samsung has said it will be updated toward the end of the year to work with the Galaxy S4, S3, and Note 2, but even so, that's very few compatible devices. Those of you who have splashed out on a fancy new HTC One or Sony Xperia Z1 will be out of luck.
Design, build quality, and comfort
I find the Gear's combination of brushed metal, buttonless front, and black rubber strap rather attractive. It's stylish and smart, and wouldn't look out of place poking from the sleeves of a sharp suit. A geek's dream gadget it might be, but there's nothing particularly nerdy about its overall aesthetic. It's available in a range of colours, too, if black and silver isn't your thing.
(Credit: Andrew Hoyle/CNET)
There's only a single button on the watch itself, which acts to power up the display, or fires up Samsung's S Voice software with a double click. Navigating around the watch is done using the touch-enabled display. The 1.6-inch display might be miniature, but its 320x320-pixel resolution is sharp enough to make small text easily readable. It's also vivid enough to let you enjoy the photos you've snapped with the camera in the strap.

Fans will miss the Two Masters (Tendulkar and Dravid)

It is a rare occurrence that two all-time batting greats, belonging to rival teams, exit from a popular form of cricket in the same match at the same venue.
When Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid played their last Twenty20 match (the final of the Champions League T20 between Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals) at the Ferozeshah Kotla on Sunday, nothing else mattered much. Not even the result!
For the ardent fans, who thronged the stadium that stood in the historical backdrop of a 14th century fortress, fading away of Tendulkar and Dravid was once-in-a-generation occasion. They were proud to be part of history.
For the two ageing practitioners of correct batsmanship, who made their names by flourishing in the gruelling atmosphere of Test cricket, Twenty20 offered a different challenge.
The two might have tried their best to stay away from T20 internationals, but the lure of cricket was too much to resist.
Tendulkar scored more than around 2800 runs in 96 Twenty20 matches with an average of over 33 and 121-plus strike rate. Dravid, a strong believer in conventional batting, gathered nearly 2600 runs in 109 matches with 28 runs per innings. He added opportunism to his batting to maintain close to a strike rate of 114.
It was Dravid’s last Twenty20 appearance and in effect it brought an end to his illustrious career from all forms of cricket. Royals’ showing in the CLT20 might provide some satisfaction to Dravid, who was not able to bid adieu to Tests from a cricket ground.
For Tendulkar, any form of cricket has been a source of enjoyment. But the 40-year-old is not getting any younger to cope with demands of the high-octane form of cricket.
His love for Tests is still intact and perhaps he wants to get rid of the physically-demanding T20 form to give his best in the longest version of the game.
Tendulkar was part of the Mumbai Indians squad when it won the CLT20 title in 2011 and the IPL crown earlier this year.
Henceforth, their fans will always miss these two masters whenever cricket is played in coloured clothing.

Arsenal Tops the League Again...

Arsenal moved back to the top of the Premier League table after an entertaining 1-1 draw at West Bromwich Albion on Sunday, while Chelsea climbed to third place.
Bidding to follow up last weekend’s shock victory at Manchester United, West Brom took a 42nd-minute lead at The Hawthorns when Claudio Yacob converted Morgan Amalfitano’s right-wing cross with a near-post header.
Former Arsenal striker Nicolas Anelka spurned two glorious opportunities to double the hosts’ lead, fluffing his lines from Saido Berahino’s low cross, and then curling wide with only Wojciech Szczesny to beat.
He was made to pay for his profligacy in the 63rd minute when Jack Wilshere met Tomas Rosicky’s lay-off with a crisp drive that took a deflection off Jonas Olsson and flashed past goalkeeper Boaz Myhill.
Myhill prevented Olivier Giroud from claiming a late winner, but the draw was enough to take Arsene Wenger’s side above Liverpool on goals scored, while Steve Clarke’s West Brom remains 12th.
“It was breathless,” said Arsenal manager Wenger.
Tottenham Hotspur could have moved level on points with the leader, but it was dealt a stunning 3-0 home defeat by London rival West Ham United.
The results: Norwich City 1 (Pilkington 68) lost to Chelsea 3 (Oscar 4, Hazard 85, Willian 86); Southampton 2 (Lallana 19, Rodriguez 83) bt Swansea City 0; Tottenham Hotspur 0 lost to West Ham United 3 (Reid 66, Vaz Te 72, Morrison 79); West Bromwich Albion 1 (Yacob 42) drew with Arsenal 1 (Wilshere 63).
